ProfileStaff Attorney Candidate will be responsible for identifying and implementing cutting-edge solutions to a variety of compelling environmental and energy issues. Advocate before state public utility commissions and regional independent system operators; Prepare, litigate and/or negotiate legal cases in state and federal courts and proceedings before administrative agencies, including citizen enforcement cases under state and federal environmental statutes; Work effectively with all members of the team – other advocates, communications and development professionals and administrative support staff; Educate and advocate to local, state and federal legislatures and administrations; Build alliances and coalitions among community groups, public officials, business interests, and advocacy organizations; and Engage in public outreach and speaking on advocacy initiatives across a variety of media.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Experience in a nonprofit public interest advocacy setting is highly desirable. Admission to the Massachusetts Bar is required. Have experience working with state and federal environmental laws; Have litigation experience at state court, federal district court, and/or appellate levels; Be a highly motivated individual with at least three years of experience practicing law, particularly energy law; Have a commitment to environmental justice advocacy; Be a coalition and network builder; Be able to manage multiple advocacy projects; and Be a mature self-starter, able to work both independently and as a productive team member.
