Insurance Defense Paralegal Responsibilities: Trial preparation, performing legal research, and drafting and preparing pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, research memorandums, correspondence, page line deposition summaries, medical records summaries, and other legal documentation. Assist in drafting and preparing pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas, research memorandums, correspondence, page line deposition summaries, medical records summaries, and other legal documentation.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved paralegal degree program. Certified Paralegal or Certified Legal Assistant designation a plus. Bachelor's Degree also a plus. 3 - 5 years of substantive litigation experience. Trial experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities, manage time effectively. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Paralegal will exercise excellent judgment and decision making skills, strong organizational skills. Must meet Paralegal qualifications based on California Business and Professions code §6450. PREFERRED: Ability to take initiative; organize and prioritize workload; ability to multi-task effectively and meet deadlines for multiple attorneys; ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Experience with trial preparation, including preparation of trial notebooks and drafting trial pleadings and other trial-related documents. Intermediate skills with Word, Word Perfect, Excel, Abacus, Adobe Acrobat, Westlaw, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to understand or prior experience with billing litigation codes is a plus. Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy. Must be open to change and willing to learn new skills. Ability to follow up on pending issues and see them through to completion. Requires full understanding of litigation motion practice, discovery, arbitration, trial and appellate procedures. Solid knowledge of legal terminology, federal and state rules of legal procedure and substantive law. Must have computer and technical knowledge as well as strong analytical, communication and organizational skills. Proficient in legal research including, cite checking, Shepardizing, and Bluebooking.
