Intellectual Property Counsel The candidate will participate in the development and implementation of Companyâ€™s global intellectual property and patent strategy, leveraging outside intellectual property counsel, and communicating across all internal departments. Will advise the Company on issues regarding patentability, validity and infringement. Draft and manage outside counsel work product related to US and foreign patent applications, amendments, appeals and responses to Office Actions. Develop and implement strategies to protect the Companyâ€™s trademarks and advise on availability, validity, and enforceability of Company and third-party trademarks. Provide strategic and practical legal guidance related to domestic and international anti-counterfeiting activities. Develop and implement strategies to protect the Companyâ€™s copyrightable works. Draft and negotiate trademark, patent, and copyright licenses, as well as other IP-related agreements. Develop and manage enforcement programs to identify and challenge third party activities that adversely affect the Companyâ€™s brands. From the IP perspective , support merger and acquisition activity, including due diligence analysis, and post-closing integration of acquired IP portfolio. Oversee, prepare and prosecute patent applications. Develop, coordinate and conduct IP training for Company employees. Lead and manage the patent and trade mark team. Manage projects delegated to patent agents, Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Must have 7+ years of professional experience managing trademark, patent and copyright portfolios in law firm and in-house legal department. Experience with consumer products industry is preferred. Must have 5+ years of leadership experience. Demonstrated and strong experience with IP-patent strategy, prosecution and anti-counterfeiting is needed. Must have J. D. degree from an ABA accredited law school. Ability to: conduct legal research, analyze information and solve problems; execute and excel in high-paced organization. Outstanding oral and presentation-based communication skills are needed. Should have license to practice law and in good standing with at least one State Bar. Admission to practice before the USPTO is needed.
