Profile

Social Security Disability Legal Assistant Duties: Requesting, reviewing and summarizing medical records, scheduling and preparing cases for hearing and pre-hearing, drafting correspondence and motions, filing, scanning, e-mailing, sorting mail, communicating with clients, researching medical history, ensuring all necessary and applicable documentation is complete to perform a thorough analysis of claims, Develops and maintains electronic files according to established guidelines, maintaining assigned active cases, receiving telephone calls, answering substantive questions concerning status of the case, payment issues, as well as functions and general procedures of the Social Security Disability claims, Communicating directly with the Social Security Administration.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Previous experience in the legal field or in social security disability law is preferred, but we will strongly consider other candidates who has a background in familiarity with file management, client relations, and computer proficiency. General office and customer service experience Strong time management and organizational skills. Strong client contact skills and telephone etiquette. Ability to prioritize and plan daily work activities. Ability to oversee a large number of cases, under the supervision of a Team Leader and Attorney. Excellent written, verbal and human relations skills Excellent computer skills including: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Ability to multi-task and to work well within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong emotional strength and maturity to deal effectively with a challenging and vulnerable population. Ability to meet deadlines while balancing competing demands and performance benchmarks. Self-motivated, responsible, and accountable. Preferred skills: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Experience with Social Security Disability Claims. Experience in Case Management. Knowledge of Social Security Disability Law and Prevail software a plus.
