AVP, Surety Claims Counsel The candidate will thoroughly analyze, investigate, negotiate and resolve both commercial and contract surety Bond claims. Will retain, manage, and work with outside counsel in claim, indemnity and regulatory matters. Extensively communicate with internal and external customers on surety claims and legal matters. Review, analyze, draft, and revise contracts, bond forms, indemnity agreements, non-disclosure agreements, co-surety agreements and other surety agreements and documents. Advise underwriting on surety related legal issues. Pursue salvage and subrogation opportunities. Assist with special projects including legal research, drafting, document review and other assignments.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a J.D. degree and be authorized and in good standing to practice law in any US state. Should preferably have 10+ years of experience as an attorney at a surety and/or construction law firm defending surety and/or construction claims and/or enforcing surety indemnity rights/general indemnity agreements. Superior legal skills, including research, analysis, and writing skills are required. Experience in international law especially international surety/reinsurance/insurance legal issues, regulatory compliance, indemnity/guarantee agreements is a plus. Foreign language skills are an asset. Should acquire and maintain all necessary adjuster's licenses.
