ProfileOutreach Housing Attorney The candidate will defend clients against evictions that do not comply with the law, work with the judges of the local general district courts to secure a place in the courthouse when the unlawful detainer dockets are heard to be available to tenants who appear to contest these cases on return dates, assist in developing and implementing an eviction diversion program, and work with local housing organizations and others that provide eviction prevention assistance to get referrals of clients. Admission to the Virginia State Bar and experience representing clients in court, are both required. Need written and oral advocacy skills and ability to work independently in fast paced environment. Prior experience in public interest and poverty work is desirable. Must have strong commitment to equal justice.
