Legal Assistant The candidate will focus on ramping up to assess baseline of skills. Assist with easier tasks and provide admin support. Train on current types of contracts: Independent Contractor Agreements, Hotel Contracts (for events), Hotel Block Contracts (rooms for events), Third-Party Vendor Contracts, Venue Contracts. Help with Intellectual Property (trademark) work to get familiar with the process. Observe and learn current organizational processes for Legal. Work on simple contract review summaries. Utilize Contract Template to create new contracts (minimal changes). Manage increased responsibility. Put together Initial drafts on different contracts using templates (simple to complex). Initiate trademark registration and renewals. Act as main point-of-contact for outside vendors, attorneys, or paralegals from other legal offices. Serve as direct contact with parties we are in contract with.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have High school diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree preferred. Should have 2-3 years of experience working in a legal office or legal use of paralegal certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook). Must have paralegal certification. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary support. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
