A law firm in Greensboro is seeking a Veterans Disability Attorney to represent veterans who have served honorably or received other types of discharge from any branch of the armed forces. The attorney will assist clients in obtaining benefits from the Veterans Administration (VA), handling cases from client intake to administrative hearings. The role involves collaborating with a team of legal professionals and providing mentorship to junior staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to improving the lives of veterans.

Duties:

  • Handle cases for veterans seeking assistance in obtaining VA benefits.
  • Meet with clients to discuss their cases and assess their needs.
  • Prepare cases for hearings, including gathering and submitting medical records as evidence.
  • Conduct legal research and write hearing briefs to support client cases.
  • Prepare post-hearing memoranda and assist with case follow-up.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings before VA judges.
  • Collaborate with intake specialists, paralegals, legal assistants, and other staff to meet team goals.
  • Mentor and train paralegals and legal assistants within the VA department.
  • Ensure compliance with VA regulations and maintain VA accreditation.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in Veterans Disability law.
  • Strong oral and written advocacy skills with effective negotiation tactics.
  • Ability to apply analytical skills to address complex legal issues related to veterans' disability claims.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client care, showing empathy to claimants dealing with difficult circumstances.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with clients and staff.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • VA accreditation is required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active and in good standing with a . State Bar.
  • VA accreditation required.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple cases simultaneously.
