Senior Paralegal, Legal Support Responsibilities: Works as a team member on various HR projects involving compensation and benefits or related issues. Assists HR and Legal team with formulation of strategies with respect to ERISA, IRC, ACA, HIPAA and state issues affecting Company’s benefit plans and programs. Analyzes complex benefits-related issues, researches and organizes solutions and effectively presents recommendations under supervision of an attorney. Drafts plan documents, amendments and notices to maintain plan compliance with IRS and DOL. Drafts memorandums, correspondence, reports and other documents as requested. Reviews legal documents and manages calendar of corresponding due dates/deadlines. Works independently to draft Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary of Material Modifications, determination letter submissions, EPCRS plan correction submissions, audit requests, responses and other government filings and submissions and tracks such matters through resolution. Assists in the preparation of plan investment fund related documents on an as needed basis. Ensures compliance with statutory rules associated with benefit plans, including but not limited to, ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, ACA and HIPAA. Serves as Secretary of the Benefits Claims and Appeals Committee. Works with HR and Corporate Communications in drafting and posting of plan communications and time sensitive notices and documents. Inventories and maintains original sets of plan documents and government filings. Maintains a sense of urgency while working on time-sensitive documents and/or filings. Excellent interpersonal and proficiency skills with demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of LFG. Works as liaison with outside vendor on QDROs and QMSCOs. Works independently delivering on routine but progressively more non-routine work, in accordance with established procedures and guidelines in a timely manner and meets deadlines appropriately. Performs a diverse range of tasks/transactions related to common programs and services by directly applying expanded knowledge obtained from the role in increasingly more complex situations. Meets or exceeds departmental quality and service standards. Make a positive contribution as demonstrated by making suggestions for improvement, implementing efficient processes and procedures, displaying positive and collaborative attitude. Drives performance targets to completion. Remains current in profession and industry trends. Performs other duties as required. Works overtime as needed.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Associate’s degree or 5+ years relevant experience. Should have 5+ years of Corporate in-house benefits experience or experience in a law firm and/or benefits consulting firm preferred. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Works with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averages and/or variances. Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Demonstrates the ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
