Compliance Officer - LIfe & Health Duties: Creates and monitors compliance framework for the Life & Health division. Promotes and manages a culture of compliance utilizing appropriate change management, organizational development and training opportunities. Proactively manages regulatory relationships and compliance framework for the companies. Acts as a resource to business partners to respond to regulatory and compliance questions and issues, Partners with business stakeholders to mitigate risk while compliantly achieving business goals, Identifies and addresses any activities that involve significant regulatory risk, Prepares regular reports to management regarding compliance activities and product related filing activities. Oversees and facilitates market conduct exams and other regulatory inquiries. Prepares and provides training for employees on compliance matters to ensure that all employees have a working understanding of the applicable state and federal laws and regulations that apply to our business including but not limited to HIPAA, GLB and other privacy laws. Acts as HIPAA Privacy Officer and works closely with Information Security and other stakeholders to provide guidance and advice regarding privacy related matters. Reviews and updates annual employee online training programs regarding compliance. Efficiently manage product drafting and filing process to ensure speed to market of a high volume of product each year. Works with regulators to resolve objections and to advocate for the companies’ positions. Leads and manages a team to effectively and efficiently provide service to the Division. Implements and manages processes for systemic and timely review of advertising and other consumer and agent facing materials.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from ABA-accredited institution and member in good standing of the Missouri or Oklahoma Bar (or equivalent). 8+ years of combined law firm and in-house legal experience with increasing levels of responsibilities. Significant experience in insurance industry; life and/or health insurance a plus. Compliance designations or certifications in life and/or health insurance a definite plus. Demonstrated experience interacting with state insurance regulators to resolve issues and meet company objectives. Experience in managing compliance programs in a complex heavily regulated company.
