ProfileLitigation Paralegal The candidate will prepare, analyze, and summarizes legal documentation, performs legal research, manages litigation dockets and provides assistance to contribute to effective legal services. Litigation Support- Filings and Response Coordination. Outside Counsel Coordination & Fees Management. Calendar Upkeep. File Maintenance - Review and manage assigned litigation files by working directly with the in-house attorneys, business units, outside and opposing counsel. Drafting of Reports - ongoing litigation. Gather Documentation/Information - Coordinate, gather and review documents and evidence in paper and electronic form, assist attorney with initial file review, make appropriate recommendations, and prepare responses to requests for admissions, interrogatories and requests for production of documents. Draft legal documents and correspondence such as petitions, settlement agreements, letters and memoranda. Working with Risk Management to tender matters. Employment Law Support- Provide support to lawyers advising on employee relations issues, such as gathering information related to policy and procedure changes, etc. Respond to administrative agencies; draft position statements on legal issues and fact situations (EEOC responses, demand letters). Draft employee agreements, such as employment agreements, separation agreements, repayment agreements, etc. General Business Support - Guaranty/Confidentiality Agreements. Support to Various Departments (HR, Tax, etc.). Assists with responding to subpoenas, garnishments and similar inquiries seeking Company information. Provides backup support to administrative assistants. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must be Paralegal with 4 years paralegal experience. Experience in litigation, employee relations/employment law support, and/or corporate matters preferred. Undergraduate Degree. In-house legal experience is a plus. Should have extensive knowledge of US legal system, including federal and state court systems and legislative and administrative systems and substantive, procedural, public, private and civil law; the ability to identify sources of US law. Must have Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Database and presentation skills. Microsoft Office Suite to include, MS Word, Excel and Power Point.
