A law firm in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy and Security Health Law Associate Attorney with five years of experience to join their team. This position requires strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with lawyers and non-lawyers and expertise in technology, data privacy, and security, with a focus on the healthcare industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide expert legal advice on state and federal privacy laws and regulatory compliance.
• Advise on data protection, management, and security, including understanding data flows and maps.
• Manage incident response related to data breaches and security incidents.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts focusing on data privacy and security provisions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to address complex legal data privacy and security issues.
• Stay current with privacy laws and technology developments to ensure compliance and advise on best practices.
• Support clients in navigating regulatory requirements and implementing effective data protection strategies.
• Facilitate training and awareness programs on data privacy and security practices for clients and firm members.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in Minnesota.
• 5 years of experience in data privacy and security law, with a strong focus on health law.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with lawyers and non-lawyers.
• Familiarity with the healthcare industry is strongly preferred.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.
• Admission to the Minnesota Bar.
• Additional certifications in data privacy and security (., CIPP/US, CIPM) are a plus.
