Housing Staff Attorney Duties: Client representation primarily in private Landlord/Tenant disputes as well as Section 8 and Public Housing. Serves as a resource for other Legal Aid attorneys and paralegals. Participates in community engagement, outreach and education, statewide initiatives, and in and day–to-day supervision of non-attorney staff.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Member in good standing of the Bar of the State of Hawaii. Litigation experience and/or experience in housing law strongly preferred. Ability to manage a busy litigation practice, meet deadlines, and perform multiple tasks with attention to detail required. Demonstrable commitment to social justice or experience working with disadvantaged, disabled, and/or low-income population, or issues affecting those populations required. Ability to work collaboratively and maintain good working relationships with co-workers required. Must be culturally sensitive and able to work well with diverse, low-income populations. Ability to work under pressure in an empathetic and professional manner required.
