Part-Time Paralegal
The candidate respond to legal research requests from Massachusetts inmates housed outside the geographic area. Travel to state correctional facilities to train inmates and staff legal research techniques as needed. Researches and responds to public records requests. Attends biannual Librarians’ Meetings. Provides assistance in compiling reports, clerical assistance, and other projects as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have 2 years of full-time or equivalent part-time, paraprofessional experience in legal research or legal assistant work, OR any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. An Associate's or higher degree with a major in paralegal studies may be substituted for the required experience. OR Completion of 1 year of study at a recognized, degree-granting law school may be substituted for the required experience. Familiarity with legal terminology, federal and state rules of legal procedure, and substantive experience using Lexis to perform legal research is preferred. Strong research, writing, and organizational skills are desired.
