Legal Analyst I/II (Utility Regulatory Paralegal) Duties : Responsible for performing paralegal duties related to legal transactions for the Community Energy Department, requiring both sound judgment and good technical skills. These duties may include drafting, reviewing and editing a variety of contracts, resolutions and ordinances, coordination with City or other government departments or agencies, involvement in the City Council agenda process, and responding to public record act requests. Additional consideration will be given to individuals with public or private utilities field experience. Be analytical, thorough and detail-oriented and have familiarity with utility regulatory compliance and utility contracting. Incumbents must be proficient in the use of personal computers and able to work with various types of software in the Windows environment.

Qualification and Experience

Qualification : The candidate must have successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Additional years of increasingly responsible investigations or paralegal work experience may be substituted for up to two years of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Completion of a Paralegal program, or possession of a Paralegal certificate, may be substituted for 1+ year of the required experience or education requirement.
Legal Analyst I: 3+ years of increasingly responsible investigations or paralegal experience, of which at least 1 year has been at a level comparable to an Associate Legal Analyst with the firm's. Completion of a Paralegal program, or possession of a Paralegal certificate, may be substituted for 1+ year of the required experience or education requirement. Legal Analyst II: 6+ years of increasingly responsible investigations or paralegal experience, of which at least 3+ years has been at a level comparable to a Legal Analyst I with the firm's. Completion of a Paralegal program, or possession of a Paralegal certificate, may be substituted for 1+ year of the required experience or education requirement.
