Lead Counsel Transportation The Candidate will be responsible for guidance. Advise operations, business strategy, product, engineering, design, and communications teams throughout the product development lifecycle on a broad range of first-impression legal, regulatory and compliance issues. Commercial transactions. Negotiate a variety of commercial transactions, including strategic partnership agreements, corporate investments, and marketing agreements. Service agreements. Oversee all stages of development of new vendor and service agreements for experimental programs, projects, and new products. Terms. Draft clear and concise disclosures, disclaimers, FAQs, terms of use, policies, and implement related processes. Alignment across Airbnb. Collaborate effectively with counterparts in other business units and international counsel. Intellectual property. Collaborate with Airbnb’s intellectual property team to incubate and protect new ideas as part of our patent development process, and research and development partnership. Communications. Collaborate with marketing, policy, public relations, and public affairs teams on external communications and promotional materials including film, web, and press. Insurance. Collaborate with in-house insurance counsel to ensure that all operations related to projects are compliant and properly covered by applicable insurance policies. Privacy. Collaborate with in-house and external privacy counsel dealing with data collection and privacy.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have JD and 10+ years of relevant experience in law firms and/or in-house legal departments with a strong understanding of and experience with FAA, DOT and NTSB regulations. Experience working with or for companies in the transportation sector, including air carriers, charter operators, air tour operators, and/or other aircraft operators is preferred. Experience at a company with rapid development of innovative products is preferred. Comfortable working independently and interacting with senior members of management. Member of the California Bar (in good standing) or eligible to register as California Registered In-House Counsel. Experience with intellectual property protection preferred. Familiarity with CDA 230, DMCA, E-Commerce Directive, and other regulations related to internet platforms. Strong experience drafting commercial transactions, including partnership and vendor/service agreements. Proven track record of quickly learning new areas of law and providing timely, effective, and strategic legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
