Employment Paralegal The candidate will be managing the EEOC process from investigations, to position statements and claims. Manage all aspects of litigation support including review and approval of pleadings and discovery, coordination with field and other personnel and outside counsel, investigating, researching information and drafting documents. Manage all aspects of EEOC Complaints, from the investigation through the writing of position statements, as well as settlement of claims within authority limits. Under the oversight of an attorney, provide guidance and support to field on day to day employee relation matters. Manage comprehensive litigation and claims reporting with attorneys, including but not limited to the Legal Departmentâ€™s matter management system (i.e. Serengeti). Prepare a variety of related reports for external audiences, the Executive Committee, HR, and internal audiences. Draft documentation for matters related to the origination and ongoing management of franchise agreements, franchisee performance management and compliance efforts (pre-defaults, property improvement plans, amendments, brand compliance, transfers, credit/collection issues, defaults, terminations). Provide support, advice and counsel to Directors of Operations on a variety of enterprise business/legal issues in connection with franchise or field operations including employee relations, brand image, brand compliance, safety & security, real estate, guest complaints and general compliance issues. Partner with attorneys, Directors of Operations and regional VPs to cultivate franchise and field relationships. Collaborate with other corporate departments and field operations to support corporate governance matters including assistance with the preparation of action plans. Build and maintain solid business relationships internally and externally and serve as liaison to departments and customers. Participate in executing Company initiatives and special projects. Manage and/or assist with management of support staff. Assist with other legal functions on an ongoing basis.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must have a bachelorâ€™s degree or paralegal certificate and 3+ years of experience as an employment paralegal. 3+ years of paralegal or equivalent experience, preferred but not required. 2+ years of demonstrated project management experience. Demonstrated ability to draft documents, including persuasive/advocacy writing skills. Litigation management experience, preferred but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Effective problem solving and negotiation skills. Excellent time management, prioritization skills in a fast paced environment. Understanding of business acumen and ability to collaborate at all levels of management and across organizational boundaries. Ability to manage and assist with people development.
