Attorney, Marketing Law
The candidate will be responsible to counsel clients on a broad range of legal issues, including intellectual property, licensing, marketing, advertising, promotions, social media, digital rights, and contract interpretation. Facilitate internal policy creation and implementation. Provide client education and training on relevant legal issues. Have primary responsibility for promotional matters (including social media and sweepstakes) affecting the assigned product lines, as well as broader promotions affecting a wide range of Hasbro product lines. Work directly with, and communicate legal issues succinctly to, senior executives, and anticipate follow-up needs. Work with key clients to proactively identify and further business strategies in transactions. Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements, including in-licenses, marketing and promotions agreements, permissions, distribution agreements, consulting and development agreements, and other work for hire agreements. Review and advise on product packaging, advertising and marketing materials, including television commercials, digital media campaigns, contests, sweepstakes, and other promotions. Contribute to company’s overall mission to provide solutions that streamline and accelerate the entire legal process by assisting in legal operations initiatives related to process improvement, training and communication, and benchmarking.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, excellent academic credentials, and state bar membership in good standing. 3-5 years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house law department is preferred. Expertise in negotiating and drafting a variety of business agreements is necessary. Understanding of intellectual property, especially copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws, as well as marketing and promotional law is required. Flexibility and willingness to independently navigate areas of unfamiliarity is necessary. Strong client relations skills, business sense, and the ability to make practical evaluations of risk are must. Comfort with a collaborative, dynamic, and creative environment is essential. Experience with licensing and/or promotional agreements is preferred.
