The candidate will be able to quickly prioritize legal issues, helping our businesses achieve their goals while minimizing risk. Will negotiate and draft a wide range of contracts in support of the company’s refining, logistics and retail businesses and its shared corporate services. Will anticipate business needs and legal developments and advise business management on the legal implications of their activity and transactions. Should preferably be a self-motivated, organized, responsive and energetic team player skilled at managing many different duties simultaneously. Good research and writing skills, strong people skills and a positive attitude are important as this position interacts with employees across business units on a daily basis.Must maintain an in-depth understanding of the law to identify and resolve wide-ranging legal issues and deliver appropriate legal advice to management. Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements including, but not limited to those involving the procurement of goods and services, construction, sponsorship and promotions, insurance and technology. Liaise with client groups across the enterprise to ensure consistent application of process. Assist with the creation of training materials to advance the organization’s acumen on contracting. Provide timely and thorough completion of requests for contract review. Work independently on legal topics as assigned based on experience and expertise. Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis in anticipation of business needs. Assist in the development and maintenance of contract templates and the contracts knowledge base. Assist senior attorneys on more complex matters, as needed. Juris Doctorate with a valid license to practice law in Tennessee or ability to qualify and register as in-house corporate counsel. Must have experience of drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts. Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with an attention to detail and accuracy. Strong verbal skills and superior grammatical and writing skills. Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office Suite; Excel; Share Point). Familiarity with technology agreements and data security and privacy provisions required. Personal initiative toward professional development and growth within the company. Ability to be successful in a fluid, ever-changing environment with shifting priorities and demands.
