Paralegal Specialist, GS 9 Duties: Locating witnesses and potential claimants (including use of computer software search tools) and conducting interviews to obtain information; then, coordinating for deposition, trial, settlements, and claims processing; Testifying at deposition or trial as necessary; Utilizing computer software skills for word processing and generation of spreadsheets; utilizing litigation support software such as CaseMap, Relativity, etc., for organizing evidence, analyzing discovery, and creating exhibits; Preparing back pay estimations or other damage calculations, utilizing math skills and computer software; may also be responsible for communicating with vendors, working with process servers, messengers, and copy service businesses, and the filing of court documents through electronic processes, by mail or in person.

Qualification and Experience

Qualification: For the GS-9: Must have 1+ year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience which has equipped you with the ability to support a legal team in the pursuit of court litigation through logistical support, analysis and organization of documents and evidence, and legal research and writing skills. OR Paralegal certification or graduate education at the master's or equivalent graduate degree or at least 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related to the field of law. OR Equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Merit promotion applicants must meet the time-in-grade requirements as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS- 9 level.
