Assistant Attorney General (00290) The candidate will serve as counsel to the agencies and entities responsible for Virginia’s transportation network of roads, rails, maritime ports, spaceports, and airports. As a member of the Transportation Section, a significant portion of the attorney’s time will be spent representing VDOT on acquisitions of goods and services, technology, and construction services. In addition, the attorney will advise on compliance with federal, state, and local procurement and highway regulations, and may draft legislation and official opinions. Will also provide general legal advice as needed in the areas of FOIA and COIA and will advise other Section clients as needed. Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar. Familiarity with government contracting, government administration, and/or general transaction experience is preferred. Should be able to communicate well with all levels of staff and management; must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work well independently and within a team of professionals.
