Job Overview
A law firm located in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented litigation associate to join its team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and work alongside seasoned attorneys in a collaborative, dynamic environment. The firm specializes in insurance defense, handling cases related to general liability, professional liability, medical malpractice, and more. Ideal candidates will have 0-2 years of litigation experience, with a preference for those familiar with general liability, professional liability, healthcare, or labor and employment law.
Duties
- Represent clients throughout all phases of litigation, from case initiation to expert discovery in general liability matters.
- Participate in court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.
- Conduct thorough legal research and discovery investigations.
- Draft and review discovery requests and responses, motions, case evaluation summaries, pleadings, affidavits, settlement agreements, and legal memoranda.
- Analyze and summarize depositions and discovery responses, providing litigation updates.
- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel to resolve claims.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing legal analysis, status updates, and guidance throughout the litigation process.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of litigation experience.
- Must be licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania (barred in PA required). Preference is given to applicants also licensed in West Virginia.
- Experience in drafting motions and discovery documents.
- Strong organizational and writing skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Lexis software.
Education
- Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Must be admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar. Preference for applicants also admitted to the West Virginia Bar.
