IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY: Full-Time Position with Competitive Salary and Benefits at Immigrant Justice Program Introduction: - Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy (CCLA) is a non-profit organization providing civil legal assistance to low-income individuals in the Charlotte region. - CCLA is seeking a staff attorney for its Immigrant Justice Program (IJP) to provide legal advice and representation in immigration matters. - The attorney will also participate in other IJP advocacy activities. Responsibilities: - Represent unaccompanied children in removal proceedings before EOIR Immigration Court and in affirmative applications before USCIS. - Represent sponsors and/or caregivers of unaccompanied children in child custody proceedings before State Courts. - Advise and represent immigrant survivors of domestic violence before the Mecklenburg County Domestic Violence Court. - Supervise interns and non-attorney staff. - Maintain a caseload to meet IJP grant obligations. - Build relationships with the pro bono community. - Help develop pro bono training resources and local training curriculum. - Contribute to overall office functioning. Knowledge and Skills: - Law degree and NC licensure or eligibility for NC comity. - Demonstrated commitment to serving low-income individuals. - Strong communication and analytical skills. - Interest in individual and systemic advocacy. - Self-motivated and dependable. - Trauma informed. - Team player. - Detail oriented. - Spanish fluency preferred. Work Schedule: - Hybrid work schedule with core hours Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Salary and Benefits: - Full-time salary, exempt position with annual salary starting at $57,645. - Generous leave and benefits package, including 100% coverage for medical, dental, and vision for employees. - 22 paid days of General Leave and 12 paid holidays. - 100% employer-paid professional liability.
