Intellectual Property Specialist Assist attorneys and others in rendering legal services to clients. Responsible for assisting in all procedural and substantive matters regarding foreign patents.The ideal candidate has experience handling all aspects of foreign patent prosecution and is familiar with the filing of U.S. patent applications. Communicate with foreign associates to file new applications in foreign jurisdictions. Work with firm attorneys and firm clients to send to foreign associate instructions, powers of attorney, and all necessary papers for prosecution of foreign patent applications. Communicate with clients regarding papers received from foreign associates regarding the patent application filing and prosecution. Prepare reports for clients regarding pending patent applications and granted patents. Electronic filing of new PCT patent applications and Chapter II Demands. Electronic filing of new U.S. patent applications and other U.S. patent prosecution documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) and the Patent Trial & Appeal Board (PTAB). Oversee accuracy of docket entries and handle necessary interactions with the docketing team regarding foreign patent applications. Daily, accurate entry of time into the Firm’s time entry system. Print and archive client and foreign associate Emails, documents and invoices that relate to foreign patent submissions. Open new client matters. Download patent materials from the USPTO and compile client document files.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate. 2 years' related work experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word). Knowledge of international IP legal databases. Knowledge of docketing software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Strong client service skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.
