Junior Counsel, Rules The candidate will be responsible for organizing, revising, and administering the Rules and the Rulebook review an1d publication process. Will plan and organize a thorough review and revision of the Rulebook. Meet each department to review and reorganize portions of the Rulebook relevant to its operations. Familiarize self with other tennis governing bodies' rules and using that knowledge to inform the Rulebook review process and maintain a document comparing the Rules to other tennis governing bodies' rules. Draft amendments to Rules that incorporate feedback from each department. Prepare documents for and managing all administration of the Rules Committee. Participate in all Rules Committee and related meetings, taking thorough notes and drafting meeting summaries. Manage the annual process for publishing the Rulebook. Interpret and administer the Rules by acting as the first point-of-contact for all internal and external Rules inquiries and building a database of responses to those inquiries. Draft Rules-related forms, communications, and educational pieces to various internal and external stakeholders, including players and tournaments. Draft and administer a range of agreements, including independent contractor, non-disclosure, and vendor agreements. Review and advise all departments on existing agreements and other basic contract-related matters. Assist in developing, documenting, and implementing processes and policies to ensure best-practices and compliance with evolving legal and regulatory environment. Conduct legal research and analysis. Should have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and be a member of a State Bar in good standing. Must have 1-2 years of general transactional legal experience, with a preference for experience with legislative or regulatory drafting. Sports law, tennis business/operations, and in-house legal experience strongly preferred.
