This role offers an opportunity for a seasoned professional to provide expert guidance in estate planning, trusts, and probate law while fostering strong client relationships. The position requires in-office attendance and involves leading legal cases, mentoring junior staff, and engaging with the local community.

Duties

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel to high-net-worth clients on estate planning, trusts, wills, and probate matters.
  • Lead and manage complex estate planning cases and probate administration.
  • Draft and review critical estate planning documents with precision, using specialized software tools.
  • Address sophisticated trust and estate issues with a client-centered approach.
  • Mentor and guide junior attorneys and legal staff, ensuring skill development and adherence to firm standards.
  • Conduct direct client interactions to understand needs, build lasting relationships, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Facilitate and oversee client-facing design meetings.
  • Manage and support paralegals to meet key performance indicators.
  • Host community webinars and workshops, with at least two evening sessions each month.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in trusts and estates law, with an emphasis on complex estate planning.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar (NH Bar is a plus).
  • Proficiency in estate planning, probate law, taxation of estates, and Wealth Counsel software.
  • Strong understanding of income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping tax matters.
  • Tech-savvy with a capacity to learn and utilize legal technology effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities, able to handle multiple cases concurrently.

Education

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required.
  • LLM in Taxation is preferred.

Certifications

  • Must be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar; admission to the NH Bar is advantageous.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to translate complex legal concepts for clients.
  • Desire to lead and mentor within a collaborative team setting.
  • Excellent “bedside manner” for client interactions.
  • Ability to manage both legal and support staff effectively.
