ProfileLegal Intern Duties: Work under the supervision of the General Counsel in the Legal Department. Gain direct experience dealing with the legal issues of a national nonprofit environmental organization, including contracts, government grants and agreements, ethics, employment law, conflict of interest, non-profit corporate governance and tax compliance, corporate sponsorship, and charitable solicitation regulation. Though the student may also have the opportunity to carry out some research and writing in environmental law, this internship focuses mainly on transactional work. Will be given a variety of short-term and long-term projects, including research and writing assignments in the form of legal briefs, informal research memos, and quick verbal summaries.
Qualification and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a current JD Degree candidate or recent JD graduate. Strong technical writing skills and the ability to explain legal concepts to people without legal training is a must.
