Associate Corporate Counsel Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting, advising, investigating and resolving legal matters for various corporate functions. Provides legal advice to personnel in diverse matters affecting day to day business operations. Provides guidance to ensure maximum protection of Paychex legal rights and compliance with local, State and Federal laws and regulations. Maintains excellent working relationships with internal clients to ensure that their legal and business needs are fully satisfied. Providing legal and compliance counseling for our Professional Employer Organizations, related group benefit programs and human resource-related products. Drafting/reviewing/negotiating client, vendor contracts and insurance policy documents. Regulatory work, including researching and interpreting federal and state laws, regulations, interpretive guidelines, advisory opinions and court cases as needed. Manage employment practices liability insurance (EPLI) program including claims and other litigation including overseeing and supporting outside counsel and maintaining claims data. Providing legal advice and support to management on benefit plan compliance, benefit plan documents, ERISA compliance, COBRA, Workers Compensation and other insurance related issues. Advise on and provide practical resolutions for issues in the areas of employment law (and related), commercial disputes, and industry regulation. Draft and negotiate contracts. Support due diligence for acquisitions. Stays current on PEO legal and industry developments.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: should have Law Degree (JD). 0-4 years as a practicing attorney. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strategic thinking skills. PEO (Professional Employment Organization) knowledge a plus. Ability to handle wide variety and high volume of work. Applies legal concepts practically and creatively.
