Junior Legal Assistant Duties: Review new matters received on a daily basis and prepare short summaries for each matter; Develop expert-level knowledge of matter flow; Track matter flow and maintain up-to-date case files; Maintain case data, conduct statistical analyses, and create databases, charts, graphs, and tables; Draft reports, letters, and chronologies and prepare substantive presentations; Liaise with worldwide team, client, and foreign counsel; Attend weekly meetings with global attorney team to discuss strategy for key matters; Prepare daily time entries for services performed; Utilize litigation support software programs and other spreadsheet and database programs as needed to perform client projects; Assist other legal teams on an as needed basis. Acquire an understanding of the mechanics of civil litigation, including pleadings and discovery tools. This will be achieved by attending training sessions, litigation department seminars, database training sessions, and through general on-the-job experience. Work with support staff (copy center, word processing, foreign legal analyst clerks, and contract legal assistants), which entails explanation and review of tasks, such as page checking, collating, sequencing, coding, indexing, numbering, copying, etc.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Four year college degree with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.2. Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to work under pressure and with a variety of personalities. Willingness and ability to work overtime and long hours. Excellent professional references. Good judgment. High ethical standards. Ability to travel, as needed. Foreign language skills preferred.

There needs to be training of management to better communicate within the department to make sure everyone is communicating collectively. The environment which staff and employees have created should be something that should be maintained.

Pros : A law firm in which the environment offers the opportunity gain experience. The space at the law firm is pleasant and is composed of hard working staff and employees.
Cons : The law firm falls short because of the lack of respect for employees and staff privacy. There seems to be a lack of communication in the law firm.
