Paralegal/Department Manager Responsibilities : Will perform legal research. Assist with writing, preparation, and organization of materials for the Board of Trustees, and certain Board committee meetings. Maintain board-related documents, files and databases and coordinates meetings of the Board of Trustees. Draft memoranda, correspondence, and other documentation; monitors and maintains files pertaining to litigation, copyright, trademark, trusts and estates, charitable giving, tax-exempt organizations, real estate, insurance, and other matters. Assist with general office management, including the departmental budget. Work closely with curatorial departments and Registrar on new art acquisitions, deaccessions from the Museumâ€™s collection, and developing procedures for collection management. Conduct regular background research on artwork in the Museumâ€™s collection. Assist in supervision of Department Coordinator.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements : The candidate should possess a Bachelorâ€™s degree, preferably in business or arts administration, with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Art history background a plus. Two(2) years relevant experience, and/or formal paralegal schooling required. Broad knowledge of office procedures and professional museum practices. Excellent writing, legal research, communication, and strong organizational skills. High attention to detail, and ability to work independently. Strong diplomacy, accountability, and judgment. Proficiency in MS Office suite.
