Nurse Paralegal/Legal Nurse Consultant Medical Malpractice Duties: Support attorneys in major medical malpractice insurance defense with responsibilities related to medical records, experts, witnesses, and trial preparation. Maintain the highest level of professionalism at all times when interacting with internal and external customers. Demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to quality customer service. Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating a strong work ethic, effectively communicating with others, and proactively anticipating attorney and client needs. Retrieve, maintain, review, and summarize medical records. Prepare records for use in discovery production. Coordinate expert review including researching experts appropriate for the case, retaining, consulting, and discussing medical issues. Prepare expert reports. Serve as a point of contact and discuss medical issues in detail with physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals. Assist with trial preparation including trial notebooks, witness files, exhibits, etc., and coordinating trial presentation services. Interact with litigation support resources to ensure efficient and effective management of large volumes of documents. Interview witnesses, and coordinate meetings and testimony of experts and witnesses. Research prior testimony of plaintiff s experts for use in cross examination. Conduct docket searches, and maintain expert and deposition databases. Research medical conditions, terms, and issues. Enter billable time timely, accurately, and consistent with department and client requirements. Maintain a functional level of knowledge in relevant technologies including litigation support and document management, in order to identify appropriate integration into case management and trial preparation. Complete special projects and other assignments as requested by supervisor or other members of firm management.

Requirements: Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Paralegal, Legal Nurse Consulting, or other legal training a plus. 2+ years experience as a Nurse Paralegal, Legal Nurse Consultant, or other medical/legal role in a medical practice (e.g., med mal, healthcare, long-term care, medical professional liability). Experience reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing medical records a plus. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, medications, pathologies, anatomy, and physiology. Highly organized and attentive to detail. Able to effectively manage multiple priorities, and work well under the pressure of deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Capable of working independently and exercising judgment. Able to handle competing priorities and high-pressure situations. PC skills including MS Office applications.
