Staff Attorney The candidate will work with ommunity partners at the heart of our work focused on issues of access and equity in public education for students historically underserved by public education, including students of color, students with disabilities, English language learners, students experiencing homelessness, LGBTQ youth, and students involved in the foster care and juvenile justice systems. The position will require the attorney to use our multiple strategies, including impact litigation, legislative advocacy, and community engagement to advance our mission, including work to stop the school-to-prison pipeline, ensure fair and adequate funding for public schools, and ensure all children have access to the full range of public education opportunities.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have admission and good standing in the Pennsylvania bar or eligible for admission by reciprocity. Should have Law degree and 5-10 years of legal experience that prepares the applicant to perform the above responsibilities. Should have demonstrated interest in public education, civil rights, racial justice, or other public interest law. Must have strong litigation, research, writing, and analytical skills. Public speaking experience is needed. Should have strong skills working collegially and collaboratively within the organization and with outside partners, including other lawyers, advocates, parents, and community partners. Must have experience supervising other staff and/or interns. Proficiency in a language in addition to English a plus.
