ProfileLogistics Management Specialist Duties: The candidate will perform a variety of specific duties designed to develop knowledge and skill in applying logistics management principles, methods and techniques. Knowledge of the nature of mission, programs and activities common of large organizations to include program planning, funding, and management information systems. Knowledge of basic program analysis policies, methods, and processes, to include planning, analyzing, and evaluating the effectiveness of line or operating programs. Carry out special assignments. Knowledge of basic logistics management policies, procedures and practices. Identify requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services. Analyze and evaluate methods and techniques to assess program operations and develop solutions. Attend and or participates in courses, conferences, briefings and meetings.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: The candidate should have completed a four-year course of study leading to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution AND have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level as follows: 1) Class standing-upper third of the graduating class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision; 2) Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in major field or the required courses in major field completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; 3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.
Have one full year (18 semester hours or equivalent) of graduate level study, or a Master's or higher degree, e.g., LL.B, J.D., LL.M., Ph.D., in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Such fields include logistics, business administration and public administration.
Have 1+ year of specialized work experience that involves planning, coordinating, or evaluating the logistical actions required to support a specified mission or program for initial acquisition. Elements of this duty include identifying the specific requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program throughout system life cycle and correlating those requirements with program plans to assure that the needed support is provided at the right time and place. This experience is equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service, which could have been obtained in the private or public sectors.
Have less than the full amount of graduate education described above and less than the amount of experience described above, but have a combination of the type of education and the type of experience described above.
