ProfileSenior Legal Assistant The candidate support the attorneys of EHS. The legal assistant duties include legal research, tracking legislation, and initial drafting of correspondence, memoranda, pleadings, discovery responses and disclosure statements, witness and exhibit lists, jury instructions and other documents as appropriate. The legal assistant will also gather documents, communicate with judicial staff, interview witnesses, organize litigation files, and aid attorneys in preparing assigned cases for trial and other disposition.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 2 years significant and progressive legal assistant/paralegal experience. Knowledge needed: Knowledge of concepts, terminology, principles and procedures of American law. Knowledge of the functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts and related criminal justice agencies. Knowledge of filing requirements and legal procedure in administrative, state, and federal courts. Knowledge of legal research, civil litigation. Knowledge of methods, techniques, and principles for writing briefs, opinions, reports and other legal documents in established formats.
Skills needed: Skills in oral and written communications.
Abilities needed: Ability to identify issues, analyze and articulate legal arguments, and assess evidence. Ability to exercise good judgment in making strategic decisions. Ability to travel within and outside Arizona, including overnight stays. Must be proficient in Westlaw, Word, Excel, and case management programs.
