Legal Assistant The candidate: Prepares decisions and other documents for a Workers Compensation Administrative Law Judge. This includes drafting and editing orders (decisions) and awards, correspondence and memorandums, proofreading for syntax, spelling, punctuation correct legal citations and use of statutes, as well as checking to verify that the evidentiary record and decision facts are accurate. Prepares specialized charts, records and narrative reports, as well as gathering data from the file record. This may include any and all of the following: preparing chronologies of the facts of the case, preparing chronologies of medical records and preparing narrative reports listing the most important facts in the record including what is contained in the transcripts of the case, the award and/or order, and the briefs filed by the parties. Performs mathematical calculations of benefits, both current and any arrearages that are due, using statutorily and regulatorily controlled formulas. Must have experience as a legal assistant, paralegal or legal secretary. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Should preferably have experience within workers compensation claim litigation. Application deadline: August 29, 2018.
