Senior Associate, Pro Bono Duties: Primarily serves as the lead staff resource for mentor and pro bono program oversight and development. Ensures the recruitment and training of pro bono mentors, including those participating in the current initiatives that fall under the Immigration Justice Campaign. Will work in a team environment to develop and distribute training materials and best practices on volunteer mentoring. Oversees coordination of a national network of mentoring teams and management and program development to assist chapters in implementing local pro bono programs that fit specific community needs. Serves as the primary person on staff to initiate and coordinate pro bono efforts, including the work of the Campaign. Collaborates closely with Campaign team to develop pro bono opportunities for the community and the community of non-association member volunteers drawn from other sectors of the Bar, including pilot site identification and infrastructure development. Works with staff, leadership, and members at national and chapter levels to recruit lawyers to participate in the Campaign and other pro bono initiatives. Works with Pro Bono Associate, Senior Technical Assistance Attorney, and other pro bono staff to ensure volunteer mentoring and pro bono programs are being maintained and strengthened across the community and pro bono allies. Develops and maintains contact with legal service providers and pro bono allies to coordinate activities; conducts outreach to provider community to advertise program resources and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications:JD degree required. Knowledge of immigration law a plus. 5+ years of experience organizing and recruiting volunteer professionals for pro bono programs. Experience building new pro bono, mentor or volunteer programs preferred. Knowledge and skill in building and managing pro bono or other legal volunteer programs. Experience, and ability to recruit, organize and motivate a team. Exceptional communication and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal, network and leadership skills. Ability to communicate strategically and creatively under tight deadlines. Ability to quickly absorb and analyze information and simplify complex issues for various audiences. Ability to design and implement formal programs or policies and/or provide expert advice to other professionals. Proven ability to work independently and closely with volunteer leadership.
