Paralegal/Legal Assistant Candidate will assist attorneys in the practice areas of personal injury and workers’ compensation from case inception through trial. Responsibilities include drafting and responding to motions and discovery, preparation for depositions and/or trial. Assist attorney with outgoing discovery responses and review incoming discovery responses; assist in preparing for depositions. Manage the calendars of multiple attorneys by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, depositions, and travel; record and monitor court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements; monitor evidence-gathering. Produce information by transcribing from dictation, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, and copying. Confirm case status with attorney. Coordinate case preparation. Type and file complaints and motions, letters. Keep clients informed by maintaining contact; communicate with clients via phone and email. Schedule witnesses for trial. Keep cases organized by establishing and organizing files. Follow-up on delegated assignments; know when to act and when to refer matters to attorney. Maintain client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must have strong customer service skills. Experience with PA law required, knowledge of NJ laws helpful. 1-3 years of Legal Secretary, Paralegal or similar experience in PA. Experience typing and filing complaints and motions preferred. PA State Court experience, Federal Court experience a plus. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Ability to self-manage and complete work within required deadlines. Strong Client Relationship and Communication Skills. Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus. Knowledge of Salesforce a plus. General knowledge of Employment Law very helpful.
