Attorney, Senior Duties: Responsible for handling legal matters in the area of labor and employment law and other issues as assigned by management, directing and assisting outside counsel, assisting in the implementation of legal policies and practices for Company entities, providing legal counsel to management and business units within the subsidiaries of Company, performing broad-based risk assessment for business units, including evaluation of threatened and pending litigation and performing such other duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney or the Associate General Counsel. Advise Company employees and management (system-wide) on a broad range of employment and labor relations legal matters, and other applicable, federal and state statutes and regulations affecting the business. Draft and negotiate a broad range of agreements, opinions, policies, agency position statements, on a broad range of employment related issues. Assist in the development and deployment of employment compliance related policies and practices, especially ones aimed at risk mitigation and management. Direct and assist outside counsel representing Company in employment and labor related transactional, litigation, compliance, and regulatory matters. Provide legal advice as requested among affiliates related to employment, labor, and associated regulatory matters. Provide advice to clients concerning compliance with applicable federal and state statutes, rules and regulations. Oversee the development, implementation and defense of system-wide affirmative action plans. Direct the work of para-professional and administrative staff.
Qualification and Experience
REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an American Bar Association accredited law school with at least an LLB/JD degree and strong academic credentials. 6+ years of experience practicing in relevant areas of law as in-house counsel and/or in private practice. Licensed to practice law in one or more states in which the company or its subsidiaries operate. Experience providing advice on the interplay between business and legal/regulatory considerations. Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. Knowledge of electric and nuclear utility regulations and rules that impact the employment relationship a plus. Experience in development, implementation and defense of affirmative action plans a plus. Knowledge and experience in OSHA regulatory compliance a plus. Knowledge in Labor relations a plus. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Extensive analytical and problem solving skills. Substantial negotiation and/or consulting experience. Able to work autonomously on complex projects. Ability to exhibit Style.
