Job Title: Litigation Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm located in Rancho Cordova, CA is currently seeking a full-time Lead Litigation Attorney to join their team. This role will focus on insurance defense and labor and employment law. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in litigation, including handling complex cases from discovery to trial. Leadership, strong writing skills, and a proactive approach to case management are key attributes for this position.

Duties:

• Manage and oversee a litigation team through all stages of discovery, pre-trial motions, and trial preparation.
• Take on a leadership role in first-chair trial proceedings.
• Handle insurance defense claims, including cases involving personal injury and employment litigation.
• Prepare and respond to civil discovery requests and pre-trial motions.
• Write legal memoranda, motions, and pleadings.
• Lead and mentor a team of paralegals and junior associates.
• Conduct legal research and utilize Lexis Nexis for case preparation.
• Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates and legal advice.
• Take and defend depositions, attend hearings, and participate in oral arguments.
• Prepare cases for mediation, settlement conferences, and trials.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of litigation experience.
• Proven ability to manage complex litigation cases independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead, train, and mentor junior team members.
• Experience defending institutions in negligence and personal injury claims, especially in cases involving alleged child sexual assault, is highly preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active California Bar membership is required.

Skills:

• Exceptional legal writing and research skills.
• Experience using Lexis Nexis for legal research.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
• Ability to handle high-stakes litigation independently.
• Ability to work with a team and manage case workloads effectively.
