Paralegal â€“ Temporary The candidate closely supports contractual matters including, but not limited to, maintenance of legal documents, preparation and review of contracts and implementation of corporate legal policy. The role involves frequent contact with business personnel to support legal objectives. This person must have flexibility in working hours depending upon the demands of current projects and responsibilities and have substantial experience (a) working with legal documents, (b) with legal terminology and principles, and (c) working in a legal environment. Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Drafting, reviewing, monitoring, organizing and maintaining legal documents and contracts. Proofreading documents prepared by attorneys within the department for internal consistency and accuracy. Preparing status reports to be submitted on a regular basis to Senior Management. Assistance in preparing presentations/outlines for meetings, conferences, etc. Collecting, preparing and organizing case files and other paperwork related to corporate disputes. Assistance in drafting and implementing legal policies, including recommendations for process improvements to streamline legal functions. Working closely with other departments to coordinate legal participation in interdepartmental projects. Drafting letters, including proofreading and ensuring accuracy vis-Ã -vis contract documents, as necessary. Summarizing legal documents and drafting form legal documents for use on anon going basis. Communication and coordination with retained outside legal counsel regarding ongoing matters. Other duties may be assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelorâ€™s Degree from an accredited four-year College or University with 3 years of relevant experience OR 5 years of experience with a high school degree or equivalent. Paralegal certification preferred. Must have strong interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to work effectively both internally and externally with a wide variety of individuals. Ability: Ability to work independently and to efficiently prioritize among a variety of tasks. Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions/make recommendations based on the investigation/analysis. Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long term goals. Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements. Ability to work well under stressful conditions with critical/tight deadlines. Strong listening and verbal communication skills and be willing to take direction and coaching. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, surgeons, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Must be able to make quick judgments as to the most appropriate way to handle inquiries.
