Nurse Paralegal The candidate performs a variety of complex duties with limited supervision. Supports attorneys with medical-related litigation. Supports legal team by requesting, analyzing and summarizing medical records. Conducts medical journal research via Internet or through local libraries. Abstracts medical records, organizes and prepares both outline and narrative summaries of the records for internal use and for presentation to the client. Analyzes medical records and billings to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the medical evidence including pre-existing or co-existing medical conditions. Prepares case analysis, including identifying issues, omissions and discrepancies; identifying and providing information regarding medical experts and physicians; coordinating medical expert deposition preparation. Assists attorneys with medical evidence preparation and organization for hearing or trial. Composes and type document production including case analysis memoranda for attorneys, outline and narrative summaries, and chronologies of medical records, correspondence, and reports. Compiles data for exhibits. Performs other duties as assigned. Must have Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. Paralegal Certification a plus. Should have 1-5 years of experience in clinical practice or 1-5 years paralegal experience in a litigation law firm. Must be proficient understanding and utilization of medical terminology, anatomical drawings, laboratory tests, and medications. Should possess thorough understanding of medical condition to explain or illustrate a diagnosis. Must have full understanding of HIPPA compliance.
