A law firm is seeking a Trusts and Estates Associate Attorney to join its Charlotte, NC office. The ideal candidate will have 3-8 years of experience in trusts and estates law, including estate planning, estate administration, charitable planning, and tax planning. Candidates currently enrolled in a Tax LLM program with a focus on trusts and estates tax courses will also be considered. The role requires strong expertise in managing complex estate matters and providing comprehensive legal advice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal guidance and representation in estate planning, including drafting wills, trusts, and related documents.
  • Manage estate administration processes, including probate and trust administration.
  • Advise clients on charitable planning strategies and the establishment of charitable trusts.
  • Offer counsel on tax planning related to estates, including gift and estate tax strategies.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on trusts and estates laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with clients, financial advisors, and other professionals to develop and implement estate plans.
  • Review and update estate planning documents to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
  • Represent clients in disputes related to trusts and estates, including contested matters.
  • Stay current on legal developments and trends in trusts and estates law to provide up-to-date advice.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 3-8 years of experience in trusts and estates law, including estate planning, estate administration, charitable planning, and tax planning.
  • Enrollment in a Tax LLM program with coursework related to trusts and estates is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of trusts and estates laws, including tax implications.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear and practical advice.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and other professionals.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
