MD Legal Real Estate The candidate will lead and manage a team by training, developing and coaching team members on a consistent basis. Prepare, review and comment upon real estate documents for legal sufficiency and internal compliance including leases, easements, declarations, subleases, assignments, indemnification agreements, default letters, demands, SNDAs estopples, settlement agreements and termination agreements. Negotiate leases and other agreements with third parties and opposing counsel, including parcel management and other hotel and convention business matters. Resolve landlord/tenant disputes. Supervise and strategize with outside counsel with respect to real estate matters, landlord/tenant disputes and real estate litigation issues. Track and manage legal matters and their related expenses; Prepare and manage a budget. Prepare reports regarding project status, progress and costs. Communicate with executive, administrative and line management in a professional, efficient manner. Gather, research and convey information pertaining to areas of concern for the Legal Department, expressing recommendations on these areas, and executing to results based on management decisions. Understand and work with the Legal Department’s matter management system and other organizational systems. All other duties as needed or required. Must have Juris Doctorate degree, with license to practice law in the state of Texas. Should have 10+ years progressively responsible legal experience in the real estate field. Should preferably have 3+ years law firm experience coupled with 2+ years in a corporate legal environment. Should preferably have 3+ years of management experience. Experience representing both landlords and tenants preferred. Must have experience interacting and presenting to executives, senior management or other clients. Prior experience actively managing outside counsel and the budgeting process required.
