Litigation Paralegal The candidate will perform legal research; conduct asset searches and basic investigation. Will draft and issue subpoenas; and draft, summarize and index discovery and documents. Organize documents and coordinate document productions. Work with outside vendors concerning large copy and scanning projects. Conduct various document searches and factual research, including Outlook searches. Prepare materials for discovery and case presentation. Prepare materials for depositions. Prepare filings and exhibits for motions. Court filings and service on other parties. Act as liaison among various internal departments as well as with outside agencies. Prepare for and attend trials.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree or certification in paralegal studies from an accredited institution. Should have Paralegal certification from a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association. Should have a certificate of completion from a paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association and/or 3+ years of experience. Must have experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Summation; Concordance; and Trial Director. A strong understanding and working knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure is required. Should also have experience scanning, coding, uploading, storing and printing of documents, as well as developing and implementing databases to manage, sort, index, analyze and summarize large volumes of data. Thorough knowledge of legal terminology, key discovery statutes, principles and procedures is needed.
