Assistant General Counsel The candidate will provide general legal expertise and advice to the Company including areas related to transportation and terminal related agreement, customer service contracts, real property leases, and transportation regulatory law. Will proposes creative solutions to business issues. Be a key member of the team responsible for the development, formulation and monitoring of overall legal strategy on transactions. Drafts, reviews and negotiates the Companyâ€™s transportation agreements, including: general agency, motor carrier, vessel charters, space charters, connecting carrier, towage and tug assist, layberth, customer service contracts, fuel purchase , office space leases, equipment interchange agreements and equipment leases. Drafts, reviews and negotiates the Companyâ€™s terminal agreements, including: terminal facility leases; leases of property for equipment storage, terminal service and stevedore agreements; preferential use agreements; crane agreements; container depot agreements; and terminal modernization agreements. Advises on tariff, service contract, carrier licensing and safety requirements of federal transportation regulatory agencies; and provides advice on customer disputes and risk management on cargo damage issues.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctor law degree must be from a high caliber law school. Must have 15+ years of experience as an attorney. Must have current or planned membership in the California and/or Hawaii Bar Association. Transportation industry experience required. Requires legal expertise in contracts and/or transportation regulatory law.
