Job Detail Job Title: Temporary Paralegal, Civil Rights Division Req: 19-016 Bureau: Public Protection & Advocacy Bureau Division: Civil Rights Division Location: Boston, MA Hourly / Salaried: Contract Application Deadline: 10/17/2018 Job Description: Temporary Paralegal Public Protection & Advocacy Bureau Civil Rights Division Attorney General Maura Healey is looking for a short-term Temporary Paralegal to assist our Civil Rights Division. The Civil Rights Division investigates and prosecutes civil rights cases in areas such as education, employment, health care, housing, financial services, public accommodations, reproductive rights, voting, and the enjoyment of individual rights, autonomy, and privacy under the law. These cases involve challenging and complex enforcement initiatives, coordination with other state agencies and federal authorities, policy development, and close work with community and advocacy groups. Duties and Responsibilities: The Temporary Paralegal will assist with the intake, processing, and mediation of consumer complaints relating to civil rights issues. The Temporary Paralegal may also assist attorneys in the investigation/litigation of civil rights cases by communicating with witnesses and other third-parties; coordinating and participating in the review of document production; analyzing data; conducting legal or other research; assisting in the development of investigative strategies and plans; helping to prepare for witness interviews, and drafting legal documents for review. This position requires substantial communication with members of the public by mail, telephone, and in-person discussions. Position Type: This is a full-time contract position for four to six months.
