System Risk and Claims Coordinator The candidate will be responsible for the entry, collection, review, and analysis of risk event data, patient grievance data, professional and malpractice liability insurance products and various patient safety and claims projects at Central Maine Healthcare with the objective of promoting and enhancing safe, high quality patient care while identifying, proactively mitigating and minimizing the risk and losses inherent to the health care system. Will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Midas+ internal event reporting system; and, daily risk event data entry, review, investigation, analysis, tracking, trending and dissemination of lessons learned and contributing factors. Identifies, analyzes and acts upon actual and potential exposures to the organization with a goal of improved patient safety and protection of the organization's assets. Responsible for the oversight, completion and tracking of claims and insurance data including provider claims histories; commercial insurance applications and policy renewals; provider certificates of insurance; and, State licensing renewals and annual reports for the Central Maine Healthcare self-insured Workers Compensation Trust. Overall responsibility for coordinating, compiling and maintaining data repositories including policies and procedures, claims loss run(s), and quality of care grievances. Assists the Director and the Risk department with the Captive claims management program including the coordination of litigation discovery and other duties as assigned. Responsible for reviewing incident reports and conducting investigations of complaints or reports related to the treatment of or alleged injuries to patients or visitors and/or other incidents. Assists the Risk Management, Claims and IRB divisions in meeting its goals and responsibilities. Participate in System-wide Committees and Projects as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have Bachelor's degree in healthcare, clinical, legal, or paralegal studies. Should have 1-3 years of clinical practice, risk management, claims, legal, paralegal experience. Proficiency in legal and/or medical terminology is preferred. Must have excellent computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office products including Excel
