Legal Assistant/Paralegal Duties: Handling requests for appointments in a timely and courteous manner. Communicating and corresponding with clients in a timely and courteous manner. Running Conflict Checks. Opening, maintaining, inactivating, and/or closing client files. Maintaining client confidentiality. Adhering to all HIPAA compliance rules. Drafting of legal documents, including: simple wills, pour-over-wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, estate administration forms, and other documents for Attorney review.. Drafting letters for Attorney as needed. Prepping for client appointments to execute documents including printing documents and obtaining witnesses. Communicating and corresponding with court personnel and other third parties. Documenting all work performed in the practice management computer program. Preparing invoices, taking payments from clients, submitting proper documentation to Attorney for review and to Office Management for payment processing. Managing multiple deadlines. Assisting with Attorney’s calendar. Performing legal research as needed by Attorney. Other projects and items as needed by Attorney. Serving in the office rotation for front desk phone duty.
