ProfileConsulting Attorney – First Amendment Protection and Support Project Duties: Responsible for the development of all deliverables related to the First Amendment Protection and Support Project. Developing a complete suite of legal information, forms and instructions to assist Texans who are harassed and/or bullied in the legal system, simply for exercising their first amendment rights. Plan, develop, revise, and produce the following publications, instructions, and forms covering the following subjects: Texas Citizen’s Participation Act (including information on the progression of relevant case law), First Amendment to the United States Constitution, Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP), What is and is not a SLAPP (Identifying a SLAPP ), How SLAPPs work, SLAPPs and attorney fees, SLAPPs and responding, SLAPPs and discovery in Texas, Responding to a Subpoena, Avoiding a SLAPP, Drafting a Reply Brief.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree and licensure by the Supreme Court of Texas. 2+ years of experience with Defamation, Tortious Interference with Business Relations, Libel and other related causes of action. Experience with legal research and writing. Preferred: Experience and familiarity with Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation and the Texas Citizen’s Participation Act. Legal Research.
