Consulting Attorney â€“ First Amendment Protection and Support Project Duties: Responsible for the development of all deliverables related to the First Amendment Protection and Support Project. Developing a complete suite of legal information, forms and instructions to assist Texans who are harassed and/or bullied in the legal system, simply for exercising their first amendment rights. Plan, develop, revise, and produce the following publications, instructions, and forms covering the following subjects: Texas Citizenâ€™s Participation Act (including information on the progression of relevant case law), First Amendment to the United States Constitution, Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP), What is and is not a SLAPP (Identifying a SLAPP ), How SLAPPs work, SLAPPs and attorney fees, SLAPPs and responding, SLAPPs and discovery in Texas, Responding to a Subpoena, Avoiding a SLAPP, Drafting a Reply Brief.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: JD Degree and licensure by the Supreme Court of Texas. 2+ years of experience with Defamation, Tortious Interference with Business Relations, Libel and other related causes of action. Experience with legal research and writing. Preferred: Experience and familiarity with Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation and the Texas Citizenâ€™s Participation Act. Legal Research. Legal Writing. Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Planning and Organizing. Decision-Making. Communication Skills.
