Staff Attorney The candidate will provide fearless and zealous advocacy to child clients in immigration removal proceedings. Will work under the direct supervision of a Managing Attorney and in collaboration with their fellow attorneys. Responsibilities include: Provide creative representation to immigrants before the Immigration Courts, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, and CA state court proceedings related to a client's removal case; Represent detained and unaccompanied minors recently released from ORR shelters in their immigration removal proceedings, applications before USCIS, and child custody and guardianship proceedings in state court; Stay up to date on rapidly changing immigration laws and policies; Comply with data and program reporting requirements. A Juris Doctorate required. Active California State Bar License required or licensure from another state and willingness to “waive into” the CA Bar via the Multi-Jurisdictional Practice Program; those who sat for the most recent bar exam will be considered. Spanish language proficiency will be tested at time of interview. Should have strong case management, legal research, and legal writing skills required.
